Images of Brittany
I decided to launch Images of Brittany when I realised, after looking at the visitor statistics from my family and friends site www.BretonDiary.com, that many people were searching the internet for information on Brittany.
I felt that, as “A picture tells a thousand words.....”, an image based site would be of aid to those people planning to move to Brittany, already living here and looking for places to visit or people just planning to come here for their holidays.
I knew that there was a wealth of images on the internet that were available for re-use, either being in the public domain or released under one of the free use licenses.

I started off by selecting relevant images (those that had been released into the public domain - and thus freely available for any use), from Wiki Commons.
Rather than hot-linking to those images, I copied them to my own server. I also decided to put my own collection of, admittedly rather horrible, photographs into the Public Domain at the same time.
Many of those images have been uploaded to Wiki Commons - any new photographs that I take will be automatically added.
As the site develops, I hope to be able to add more images that are available under either the GNU Free Documentation License or the Creative Commons Attribution/Share Alike License.
Where these licenses require it, I shall attribute the image to the original author.
It is my hope that more and more people will share their own photographs by releasing them under either one of the appropriate licenses or directly into the Public Domain.
As photographs relevant to living or holidaying in Brittany become available in this fashion, I shall attempt to add them to this site.
